is it really free?

why does it need the Accessibility permission?
macOS only lets an app move other apps' windows through its Accessibility feature — every window manager needs it. It's a one-time switch, onboarding walks you through it, and it's the only permission WindowBuddy ever asks for.
can I change the shortcuts?
WindowBuddy Pro unlocks the Commands editor, where all 19 actions are remappable and can be switched off individually.
does it handle more than one display?
Yes. Send a window to the next display with ⌃⌥⌘← / → and it keeps its layout at the new screen's size. If a monitor is unplugged, the focused window is pulled back somewhere you can reach it.
will it fight with another window manager?
WindowBuddy only claims the shortcuts you give it. If you're switching from another snapping tool, quit that one first so two apps aren't wrestling over the same keys.
why isn't it on the Mac App Store?
App Store rules sandbox apps away from controlling other windows. WindowBuddy ships as a notarized direct download instead — same Apple security checks, none of the limitations.
how do updates work?
Through the built-in updater. On first launch it asks whether you want automatic update checks — your choice. Checks read a version file from this site, downloads come from our GitHub releases, and every update is signed and notarized.
